Ahhhh, I’m very happy with my time on this one.  It feels like possibly my best Sunday time, although I’m too lazy at the moment to look it up.  The puzzle is called “Twas Puzzling”, and the theme is punny – phrases that contain a word that begins with W; a T is added to to the beginning of that word to make the new, punny, phrase.

23A, When Jerks come out? – THETWITCHINGHOUR
38A, String around a cake box? – DESSERTTWINE
53A, Men or women who pinch? – THETWEAKERSEX

95A, Roast the other side of the marshmallow? – FLIPONESTWIG
113A, Discouraging comment to a cloner? – YOUCANTTWINEMALL

A tough one from Barry Silk, but a caught a break by successfully guessing, as my first answer in the grid, that 15A, “King’s honor”, was NOBELPEACEPRIZE.  The other 15-letter answers opened up without too much trouble after I had a few letters.

17A, Where moles may try to dig? – CIAHEADQUARTERS
34A, An artificial satellite may have one – STATIONARYORBIT
55A, Film about an aristocrat captured by the Sioux – AMANCALLEDHORSE
58A, Dish named for the queen consort of Italy’s Umberto I – PIZZAMARGHERITA

Note: I’ve finally put in the Saturday and Sunday puzzle entries from two weekends ago, backdated, for anyone who cares to see.

Today’s puzzle’s theme involves a quote from GEORGEBURNS(60A).  The quote is about one of the “dumbest dumb animals”, the HUMMINGBIRD (17A).  The first part of the quote, at 17A, is ITSREALLYTIMEHE.  The second part, at 46A, is LEARNEDTHEWORDS.
